In February 2009, Tiffany & Co. announced a new line called Tiffany Keys. This is a rather extensive collection of keys in all shapes and sizes and in every type of metal. The idea was to recreate a series of vintage keys from the Tiffany archives.
The key is an inspired idea for jewelry, since it has the ability to conjure different thoughts and memories for different people, making it a very personal item. Keys can open jewelry boxes, treasure chests and of course the ever elusive “key to someone’s heart”. It is always important for jewelry to connect with the wearer and create a sense of nostalgia, and in this Tiffany has certainly succeeded.
This particular key, which we recently purchased, is platinum set with diamonds and represents one of the higher-end pieces in the collection. Although this key retails for several thousand dollars, there are others in the collection with price points of less than $200. One of the strengths of Tiffany & Co. is that they sell jewelry at multiple price points, allowing them to maintain their luxury image while also making them accessible to a broader audience.
Due to the success of this new line, it is already in high demand on the secondary market. CIRCA is paying a premium for these items, so there couldn’t be a better time to sell!
