Guest Blogger - Janie Schoenborn

Every jewel tells a story. CIRCA asked Janie Schoenborn about her favorite jewelry piece:

I am a chronic jewelry buyer. It is a weakness…a sickness…an obsession…all of which brings me SHEER DELIGHT. I shop vintage constantly. I buy new. I buy real. I buy costume. I buy whimsical trinkets. Bottom line...I buy.

In a very uncharacteristically UN-GLAM way, I keep my costume jewelry in tackle boxes. They have the dividers for the different size lures…it works perfectly!

I take a huge amount of design inspiration from the jewelry that I collect. Luckily, our Accessory Designer Colleen has my same passion and we bring in bauble after bauble for inspiration. We have an amazing casting agent we work with who can transform our every whim. This summer, it is all about re-establishing the old prep look of the wire necklace. Don’t you remember your mother having the round wire necklace with something chic hanging off it? Or her monogram disc. Love it!

I clearly must, must, must change my jewelry with every outfit…with one exception. On my right hand, middle finger I always wear my gold and jade foo dog ring. I got it when my daughter Tiki was born (6 years ago!) and I adore it more than words can say. It is my signature piece. If I ever forget it, all day I am out of sorts, touching that hand and wondering why I can’t remember the day of the week or what I am supposed to do next.

Jade is good luck. For the wearer it is said to suggest charity of heart and wisdom. I'll take that! PLUS, the green of the jade goes with all of my pink Lilly. You will never ever see me without this ring...and if you do - just know I am having an off day and may need directions.
