What to Wear at Fashion Week

With Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week just two weeks away, I know that fashionistas everywhere are beginning to plan our looks for under the tents.

For fall 2011, clothes are ladylike and lovely all over again. Elegant shift dresses in bold colors will fill the real life runways of Madison Avenue and Rodeo Drive with delighted buyers. Pencil skirts and wasp waist jackets cut from tweeds and hounds tooth have lonely lapels that cry out for a glittering burst of color.
I, for one, intend to have an arsenal of brooches ready to wear at Lincoln Center. I think they look the best on something really plain like a jean jacket or a basic black dress. But don’t stop there. Fitted on the right canvas tote bag, or discreetly pinned onto the sleeve of a blazer, this functional classic of the jewelry world gets an edgy twist. This animated brooch, courtesy of CIRCA, is on trend right now, rendered in 18k textured yellow gold with diamonds and a large turquoise cabochon.

So, I’ll be looking for your brooches at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week! You can catch me at a show, or between shows at the CIRCA Accessories Salon.

Cheers,
