CIRCA Presents: Ruby Kobo

Ruby Kobo will preview their new collection at the CIRCA Accessories Salon at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. We recently sat with jewelry designer Yuvi Alpert (pictured here with design partner Danna Kobo), to find out what influences his style:

Name: Yuvi Alpert

Hometown: Los Angeles

When did you first start designing jewelry?

I originally started designing jewelry in college in Miami for friends. A Miami boutique, Base, then I bought the line.

What was the inspiration for your current collection?

This current collection is a combination of different stories told through layers of bracelets, necklaces combined with rings and earrings, all inspired by the colors, textures and shapes – both architectural and natural.

What will you be showcasing at the CIRCA Accessories Salon?

Our latest collection along with our signature Ruby Kobo pieces from past seasons.

Do you have a piece of jewelry that has particular meaning for you?

Every piece I make has its own story and special meaning to me which is developed throughout the creative process, from the initial idea to the final piece.

As one of the largest ‘recyclers’ of jewelry in the world, CIRCA is committed to sustainability by reducing the need for excessive mining of gemstones and precious metals. What are your thoughts on sustainability in jewelry and fashion?

I use sustainable practices when possible and many of our designs are made of up-cycled materials. From the Tibetan Masks, the European trading beads, Nepali Prayer beads Indonesian glass beads, naturally Shed antler tips. Goal is to give those elements an entire new life in the Ruby Kobo collection.
